Incentives for Grains Best Management Practice...
The Grains BMP program is a voluntary, industry led process which helps broad acre grain growers to identify improved practices which can help enhance the long term profitability of their enterprise. It also helps identify the steps you need to take to incorporate best management practices into your enterprise. In time it will also allow the grains industry to demonstrate good environmental management to the wider community. As part of the collaborative grains BMP project incentive funds are being offered to growers completing the program. The funds are aimed at assisting with activities identified in individuals action plans.
We know that growers are busy people, so each module has been designed to be able to be completed in a few hours, depending on how many action plans you develop and how quickly you work through each part. The program is run over three workshop days with a property visit to develop a project. There are 5 modules which are Soil fertility management, Property design and layout, Pesticide Application, Making best use of rainfall, Integrated pest management. Facilitators will be on hand to help you along the way if you require assistance.
